Tokyo Gore Police was the first Japense gore film I saw, in a small art-house cinema in London. I’m not sure what the other people in the audience were expecting, or whether the squeamishness and giggles were to save face, but it’s a pretty gory film. Thank goodness!

Set in future-Tokyo, the film follows samurai-cop as she seeks to avenge her father’s death. It’s not that easy, though, because psychopathic mutants known as ‘engineers’ are abound, and possess the ability to grow a weapon from any injury. And, let me tell you, ALL kinds of things get injured. You know what I’m saying.
